2007 mustang light conversion

Postby James7 » Sun Apr 08, 2018 5:52 pm

Just doing a few electrical bits to my car and assumed i would see where the lights had been converted for the uk, but have not seen anything which looks non oe apart from 1 relay under the bonnet.

Anyone know any of the common ways they were done and if its visible anywhere?

Relays under the bonnet, resistor packs either in the boot or spare wheel well or behind the rear lights.
Additional wiring loom running (usually) along with the interior wiring loom on the LH side.
Will also probably have an aftermarket switch on or under the dash for the rear fog lights.

Thanks mr monkey

I have had a good look everywhere and can only find a relay under the bonnet (rear fog), extra brake light wire direct from the switch to rear lights(the only extra wiring from front to back) and the wing repeaters joined in from the front indicators. The added rear indicators are wired to the original brake light wiring.
The switch for the rear fog uses the front fog switch, via the relay etc.
I cant think of any thing else it would need.
Having heard lots of horror stories about them, and knowing that mine was all ok i was interested in how it would be done as i was fitting an alarm and bits and pieces so had the car in bits.

The only reason for the lack of extra wiring and resistors that i can think of is because mine does not have the bulb out warnings. Would that be correct?

Cruise control works fine. As does everything else.

There has always been a fault code for brake lights/switch (cant recall which) and i assumed this was because the load on the switch was different due to light conversion. But its never put a fault light on or caused a problem.
