New non Mustang owning (yet) member

Postby eebyeck » Thu Oct 12, 2017 11:10 pm

Hi All

Been visiting this site for a while now so thought eventually to say hi!

Hoping to buy a new Mustang in a few years although dependant on a new house first. Been eyeing the ecoboost up for a while but since the MY2018 has been detuned I've justified to myself that I can afford a GT although the new otr price hike isn't welcome.

Regards
Andrew

Yo, welcome!

go with the GT on a MY18 platform with magride and 10speed auto it'll be godly to drive and eat most things on the road.

However, IMO it looks a big down on the front

Thank guys.

I was seriously considering the ecoboost before the power drop. I'm coming from several SAAB 2.3 Turbos so it seemed a natural progression. It will be a daily driver of 15k miles a year and I do like putting my foot down so I really had to justify a GT. It may be a long wait which will depend if I blow the budget on my next house (really want a double garage) so it could be 2 years or even plump for a second hand my 16/17. I will stick with the manual, I know modern autos are fantastic these days but I do love a manual box, even though they are now slower and less fuel economic.

As for the magride, that just reminds me of when Audi first introduced something similar to the A6 (sounds similar anyway) and within 3 years they had all been replaced with std suspension. Also got to be careful as the new MY 18 GT is already priced just below the £40k list price so a few options will turn out to be very expensive.

The more I see pictures of the MY 18, the more I like it even more so than the 16/17.

The EB isn't changing much they're just being more honest with the numbers, it's not gone down, ford are just being honest. If you wanted power out an EB, more than happy to have a chat with you, Myself, Revo and Fortis are all currently running around 370 crank horses, which is about peak for full bolt on mods (Until you get larger turbo etc). A simple tune will bring it up a bit more. :rock

Thanks, I'll consider the tuned ecoboost nearer the time, might be hard now I've justified the running costs of the GT.

If you're not bothered about the auto or mag thingy, go early used S550 GT and spend your savings on fuel. And mods.

I would avoid a 'boost at all costs unless you have problems getting insured on a proper one.

Walked a v8 on the weekend from a 50 roll, by about 3 car lengths... EB For the win

(*Far from standard EB, but still only bolt on power, no big turbo or built motor yet lol)

Don't forget, for it to be a race, both drivers have to be racing. ;)

V8's have nothing to prove. :butt

Oddly, this time it was.

Was cruising back from Nemesis with Callum (Magnetic EB), doing some datalogs for my tuner so dropping to 2.5k RPM then redlining in 3rd. Red GT (shadow pack) pulls up outta nowhere next to me, slows down to 50 to sit at my speed, sits next to me, downshifts (I'm still in 3rd), and starts pulling, I pull closer wind window down yell 3.2.1.go, both pull off, ran away from him. :rock .

Unlike other times I've said it like with the Ferrari and I've just gone full WOT and they've gone half throttle lol

If some oik in a 'Boost wound down his window and shouted '3.2.1. go' at me, I'd let him run away... as far as possible.
