Thought this was just what I needed, I really need the paint code for my eagerly awaited S550. (Loads of upgrades to paint )
But the Shadow Black code is missing from the list :|

It's in the 2016 codes...

What have you ordered that needs painting? Spill the beans!

By all accounts, Shadow Black is the same as, er, the previous black.........looks like they just changed the name.

Not the first time Ford have done this. Gotta Have It Green on the '13/'14 Stang is the same as Green Envy on the Fiesta (in the US).

However, don't come looking for me if you paint your bits (ooo-er) and they're too different shades :axe

I've heard different, I was told the "old Black" was a true metallic (metal bits) whereas the "Shadow Black" has mica (more of a blue pearl effect) ???
Suppose I'll find out when my "fictitious" car eventually arrives ;)

For the whole of the S197 production run, the Mustang's black was a non-metallic and it was the only black available.

There were a number of very, very dark grays that look almost black, but they were never given "black" names. Alloy Gray is a good example.......most people would say it's a metallic black, although it's a few shades lighter than the usual stock black.

:)

Yet on my Ford "Vehicle Order Sheet" I have :-

Makes you wonder why Ford are charging for flat colours like black and white

Common colours, high demand, people will pay for them etc. I think most car companies charge for white and black when buying a new car, then usually the metalics, multi-coat, etc versions of paint are more pricey options.

tl;dr another way to get a few extra quid in.

Just out of interest, can you actually buy paint for S550s from shops, like a normal car,

I had to get mine (S197) mixed at Halfords, think it was £10 or £15 for a small can! :o
