M6 Potholes - Burst tyre

Postby sfallon36 » Tue Jan 23, 2018 8:33 pm

SO I was heading South on the M6 roadworks between 17 and 16 on Friday when I hit a pothole in lane 2, approximately 2 miles North of Jctn 16 on the Southbound carriageway.

The drivers side tyre immediately punctured and rapidly deflated, I got off the carriageway safely, but couldn't even do a temp repair to get the 1.5 miles to 16.

It took 2.5 hours to get me off that section to 16 and there were three other cars with exactly the same issue. Apparently speaking to the recovery guys, there had been over thirty cars that week recovered just to 16 with 17 in one day alone. Their recovery vehicles have had blowouts and punctures on that stretch as well.

The point is, watch yourself on that stretch if you're travelling that way and the advice from the recovery guys was to stay in lane 3 because there are less holes.

I'm doing that trip again on Friday..... :?

Looks like it's time for a claim to the council! Fucking bollocks! Buy some MPSS' and get council to refund the tyres cost. :rock

I think it's a case of it's the lane with the least number of really big potholes...
