I bought new alloys

Postby Manders Mustang » Tue Apr 11, 2017 2:22 pm

Some of you may know, some of you may not, last July i hit a pothole and kerbed 2 of my alloys which also led to a prematureupgrade to MPSS's as the Pzeros exploded.

Since then i've been toying with the idea of new alloys, and a Belgian company (MustangMustHaves) tipped me over the edge to go with them, and buy some alloys from them.

So what have I got?

Rotiform R122 SPF 19x10 | 5x114.3 (from 19x8.5 | 5x114.3) so they're slightly wider. They're also being custom resprayed in gloss black.

They offered me a great deal on Alloys + Tyres, however, due to saving for a house, and other mods already on the way, I need to save money wherever I can! So if you do want Alloys, worth giving them a shout:

So here are my alloys... Pre respray.

Thought about dipping in carbon fibre dip stuff?

I know you love a bit of faux-fibre! ;)

I was quoted £80 a wheel. Not sure how that compares to your respray quote...

@ant379 - 20MPH down a road that was tiny, and I couldn't swerve to avoid it, think I got very unlucky with where it Hit. ALloy sonly have a buckle on 2 on the lip, it's minor and the car drives fine with them, it's just, being a perfectionist, I couldn't stand seeing them like that at times. So alas new wheels it is!

@Badhand £315 for a full respray to gloss black pre pickup. Already paid it, don't think that's bad, and can't complain with it, works out at 78.75 a corner, so just a bit cheaper, think carbon wheels would look shocking on my car, especially as I just had the whole car's plastics done in gloss black ;).

Also dipping wheels is a nightmare, I'd want the inside barrel done in carbon too if I was to do that, and that's super hard to do on a single transfer, and double transfer is never promising.

Gloss black it is ;)!

Think I'm one of the first in the world to run these specific rotiforms on the S550, seen other rotiforms on Mustang's but never the R122's. :rock :rock :rock :rock

Think you can claim off the local council for damage caused by pot holes.

Not so long ago, I was listening to the radio and it was talking about the false economy not putting pot holes right and instead paying out compensation.

We pay road tax and should expect reasonable roads.

Mandy,

funny you picked those, I was only talking about these wheels with BH last week. They do some cool wheels.

I really like these wheels on the BMW at speed hunters http://www.speedhunters.com/2016/11/gai ... wapped-m3/

not sure they would work on a mustang, but your wheels will look cool. Have you thought about getting the edges of the wheel details done in a different colour, like the selections on rotiforms website, that might look cool picked out in dark chrome or red?

Haha, apparently we have the same tastes ;)!

I'd looked at doing the inside lip in race red, but think that maybe 'too much' and look a bit weird, i'll leave them gloss black and see when they come, the other option was to fit some reflective red tape like the CDC outlaws have on the inside lip.

Rotiform do some really nice alloys, have a word with PJ (MustangMustHaves - link in op) and he should be able to sort you out with some, the prices are pretty crazy (as in good crazy!). Some of their wheels look like they're suited more for stanced out car's in the American/Euro scene, but, some work wonders across other cars.

I believe I'm going to be the first running R122's on the Mustang in the world.

The CJP Sema build had Rotiforms on, can't remember what ones, but it's what got me looking at them :P!

Rotiform are a good choice they make some badass but classy stuff fair play .

Got to say BBS would not suit a stang but I have always loved that brand from my h reg 16v gti , some of their sets go upwards of 4 k.

Well lads missing the Stang it sold within a week and the phone went off the hook, so it just shows if you make the right mods it can help sell a car if youre in the situation you have to let go. !!

I have had worse then a kerb slam, on a previous Merc I had a half triangle manhole cover shoot up off the ground in heavy rain as I drove over it, it shark finned my underside and cut the fuel lines , cut under trim and nasty gash under side of bumper, never got a penny , tried but gave up time is money and also stress, cost of repairs £1100 :axe .

@Shadowpony Jesus christ that's crazy repairs I just had popped tyres and two buckled alloys on the lips, Had to get a new set.

I'd been searching for Wheels for ages, found these, and they screamed "Do it" to me, haven't seen another S550 with these specific Rotiforms, and the deep concase has the style I was personally looking for on them :).
