TURO Air B&B for cars

Postby badhand » Tue Aug 08, 2017 1:12 pm

Wasn't aware of this website 'til I started looking for hire cars (Mustang of course) for a quick visit to the States, but it offers people's private cars for rent across America. Similar model to Air B&B putting you in touch with the car's owner. Nice idea and seems legit.

Got excited about this til I saw it was manual... :(

Anyone here had any experience of the site?

Yep - I fly to the US every six-eight weeks for work. I started to use Turo on each trip... so far I've hired an X3, a Camaro SS (6.2L!) a Wrangler (doors and roof off!) and I have another decent motor lined up for next week...

Cheaper than a standard hire car company - and lots of variety.

The only issue(s) are that because you're hiring from individuals, sometimes they can be unreliable... I had one cancel on me the day before I arrived, leaving me scrambling to find a similar replacement at bedtime before my early morning flight.
Conversely, some of the people are wonderful and will go above and beyond- giving you local recommendations, phone chargers to use, etc.

Pick wisely and you'll have a great experience.

Just booked a nice black fastback Ecoboost at a good deal less than a rental for my trip! Fingers crossed it's a good 'un. :D
