Question for you oh wise one and knower of all knowledge stuff: If I'm ordering a GT with a potential August delivery next year, what's the chances of getting this facelift model?

An August delivery I would hope would be the facelift......but it'll be close. Very close.

We'll know more when the last order dates for the '17MY are known. Unfortunately, someone I trust on another forum indicated this may be as late as May 2017 for the US. '18MY orders would, therefore, usually, follow just a week or so later, so lets say June.....indicating they'll be building the 18s around that May/June timeline.

Given it's usually 8 weeks or so for UK cars to get here after being built, that means an August delivery here would have to be built right around that June slot.....so, effectively, one of the first RHD 18s.

Don't forget, too, that build/delivery times are coming down for UK cars. The GT used to be 12 months, but that's much closer to 9 months now, I guess as supply is slowly catching up with demand.

I'll keep my ear to the ground and I'll pass on any info I hear.

Personally, I'd get friendly (but not too friendly ;) ) with my local Ford dealer. That's Guildford for you, I think? Let them know you want the '18MY facelift car. Point them in the direction of the spyshots if they deny all knowledge (which I suspect they may). Alternatively, you might want to deal with Kent Mustang, as they are the most switched on of any of the dealers (they knew about the new colours for '17MY pretty much the day I found out, so they're good ;) ). You need to be able to work with them so that, if the timeline calls for it, you get bumped back a little in the queue to ensure you get the '18MY. Of course, you don't want to go right to the back of the queue, and I'm not sure how the dealer could make that work......hence getting a good working relationship with them now.

Of course, we have no guarantee as to what goodies may or may not make it into the new UK car (revised Coyote and 10-speed auto etc).

It's all a bit of a bleedin' lottery

I think it'll be a relatively subtle change. Most non-Mustang people probably wouldn't be able to tell a '17 from an '18. But we ARE Mustang people. And details matter, dammit :D

Thanks Turbot for that lengthy answer!

Think I might hang off the order for a few months then. It'll mean a less than smooth transition between the Panzer Wagon and the 'Stang, but I can ride Hell No moped for a few summer months in between cars. I NEED that 10 speed auto :)

Or buy a shed for a couple of months whilst you're between cars.....something that'll sell on easily, like a Focus or a Mondeo. My old Mk1 Mondeo was the best £500 I ever spent! Bought for £500...didn't spend a penny on it in 18 months and sold it within 3 hours of it hitting eBay....for £350!! :D

There were some nasty click-bait websites that tried to convince people that the V8 was dead. In an usual move, Ford actually quashed these rumours, probably about a year ago.

The Coyote is expected to gain direct AND port inject, so expect the US version to be putting out around 450-460hp :rock

I can see that for the S650 in 2020, not so sure about that for the face lift :)

Me too...

Facelifts probably:
redesigned front bumper area including lights
redesigned back fascia
and maybe some interior trim
engine wise it'll be minor, couple of horses up (as you said above)

Spied again!

A few things of note.......firstly, quad exhausts!

Also, and this is quite probably the camo doing it's job, but the rear 3/4 window does seem to have something going on, and the rear and, in particular front fenders, do look a little wider. Probably just wishful thinking on my part though :D

Quad exhaust... it's almost like they want us to buy a whole new exhaust for it rather than move our MY15/1/6/17 one over... ;)

That being said; could just look like quads from the picture. I really hope they haven't redesigned the back to but 2 exhaust exits on the left, none on the right. That'd be a very bold (rubbish) and brave (stupid) choice....
