American Carriage Company - London

Postby ozza » Sat Sep 01, 2007 8:03 pm

From the website:

Stephen Ouvaroff started the American Carriage Company over 35 years ago after
a successful career in motor racing. At a time when the European Car industry was suffering from quality and reliability problems the Americans were delivering consistently high standards of quality and engineering innovation mixed with inimitable US style. This appealed to Stephen and has been at the heart of the success of the business. Although the rest of the world may have caught up American cars still have a unique appeal, wonderful styling and deliver amazing value for money.

Stephen was joined by his son Dominic in1987 and together they have gone from strength to strength. In 2004 they moved from their premises in Kingston-upon-Thames to state-of-the-art premises in Barnes, London SW13. With a large showroom for extensive stocks and fully equipped workshops providing experienced service and maintenance facilities onsite, American Carriage Company is without doubt the most experienced and largest North American Specialist in the United Kingdom .

They are a very unprofessional bunch in my experience. Left a van for service for three weeks, and despite telling them multiple time when I was picking it up, and how important it was it was ready, it wasn't. In fact, they'd created a litany of problems in every area they'd attended. I paid them a 1300 pounds before I realized the van wasn't ready, and my wife had to wait (I had an important meeting) 5 hours for them just to stop the brakes pulling (they'd tried to change the pads - hardly complicated!).

The speedometer was broken (I think they'd disconnected it so they could use the van over the three weeks!), the entertainment system was blown (again it could only have been them playing), and the car was filthy (grease all over the seats). I'd avoid this crowd. Business is tough and it's us (the customer) who is being made to pay with over priced, sub-standard service.

BTW, I still spend a few months a year in the U.S. and can tell you it's cheaper to import anything they sell yourself. They're rip-off merchants.

shame there very sexiest to female customers and there cutomer care needs a lot of work.

made Gill very upset due to the rudeness when she wanted her car,

there are a lot better companies out there

they get a -z ( z minus) from me and a few other people that have looked into buying a car from them
