'15 with a ghost cam tune

Postby Twin Turbo » Tue Apr 05, 2016 3:44 pm

Always thought ghost cam tunes, which seemed to become popular in the US with the introduction of the Coyote V8, sound superb. As I understand it, the "cam lope" is achieved by adding additional fuel whilst the car is idling. I've not heard of any problems, but do you think this could cause longer term issues?

I know the Red Key for the '12/'13 Boss 302 features a lumpier idle, although it's not as "obvious" as the one in this video. Cookie, do you know if they achieved that sound by similar means......adding additional fuel at idle?

Anyway, with the other exhaust mods, this sounds positively evil to me

I'm not personally sure just how they achieve the lumpy idle sound, but I wouldn't be surprised if they also use the fact that they can "tune" the cam timing, ignition timing and adjusting the fuelling which all could have an impact. With the '12/'13 Boss 302, the "track key idle" as they call it, will only kick-in once the engine is up to operating temperature. So I'd guess it could have a negative impact, otherwise why would Ford program this in...?

Anyway, I love it. Next time your around TT I'll fire the Boss up without the side-exhaust baffles using the track key so you can hear the difference...
