Re: Auto transmition..

The auto trans in the early S197's is NOT sealed for life. It was always meant to be serviced, though Ford didn't make it easy for the home mechanic. There is a special piece of equipment that Ford dealers have to replace the fluid, though it's not that difficult to replace it without the tools (ask...

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

Here on Spannermonkey island I get to see and drive a fair bit of cool stuff. Saturday I was given a brand-spankers new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 (though unfortunately not the ‘Hellcat’ version :( ) to boonie about in for the weekend. It’s a very imposing vehicle. Physically large with huge red Bremb...

It sounds like the pinion seal is weeping.
Any good spannerman worth his salt should be able to sort this for you.

Re: Need advice

Sorry, I'm awake now! Ref the CAI - I wouldn't worry unduly about water ingress from rain. If you think about it most air cleaners will see rain/moist air for at least part of the time, and the whole purpose of a CAI is to get more ambient air in. The pops and crackles are moderately concerning thou...

Re: mustang, supercharger, turbo or pro charger or naturally aspirated

Harley103 is absolutely spot-on. What you may think you want your car to be can often be the thing that makes you hate it. I have a customer who had his car 'professionally' lowered and stiffened in the US before it was shipped out, and has just spent about the same amount of cash again to make it s...

Have to agree.
The vastness of the arches makes the wheels look too small.
Bolt on arches are very 'ricer'. Look tacky.

Re: Back in the saddle with another Mustang!

You on a budget?
OK, cut one coil from the front springs and 1 1/2 coils from the rear spring. Flatten as necessary (a blowtorch will get the coils hot enough) and voila! lowered S197 with uprated springs!

No need to thank me.

Re: Failing MOT emissions on P0171 + P0174 - could it be mods & lost tune?

Check correct sealing between the MAF and the throttle body. If you have any flexible rubber hoses on the intake trunking check them too.
When the MAF to TB hose splits (not always visible) it throws up those two codes. If the trans has been out of the car the hoses may have been stretched.
